Well guys,it seems that my new lappy has crashed! I cant seem to get blogger to load on my desktop at the moment,so my posts might be few and far between for a while, but dont give up on me,I will post when I can,and we will be back very soon.
Anyways, as for whats going on here, its crazy. Brady has been having nose bleeds on a and off for a while now. They really escalated this weekend. He had several Saturday, 6 Sunday and 3 today. I took him to the ped, then the ENT today. They think his nose is just dry and irritated. They cauterized one side and said to come back in 2 weeks. Well he has had three nosebleeds since we got home, 2 of which were in the side they cauterized! I'm not sure whats going on, but hopefully nothing serious, and hopefully it will pass very soon. My furniture and his clothes cant take much more :(
Anyway our trip was crazy today. He had a nose bleed on the way to the ENT,so he was a mess by the time we got there. Then he decided he should potty in his pants as well! So we went straight to the bathroom to clean up the blood and poo, where he decided it might be fun to grab a handful of the stinky diaper! I dragged him to the sink with his pants still around his ankles and scrubbed his hands. We finally got him all cleaned up and dressed and got signed in. He met an older woman in the lobby and immediately made friends with her. He was playing with her as they sat on a step, well she fell all the way over backward, trying to hang onto him, thankfully she was ok. Anyways we went to the back to a room, where Brady refused to stay. He decided it would so cool to visit anyone and everyone in the halls as well as the other exam rooms :) He played with the nurses, stole their glasses, tried to work on their puters,it was great, lol. Every time I took him back to the room,he had to play in the sink, turn the lights on and off,he even stuck his fingers in the VCR! Anyways needless to say it was fun. But he done really great during the cauterization,I was shocked. He did try to blow the cotton out of his nose, then decided the piggy snort would be more effective, lol. But in the end we did get it done, even though it doesn't seem to have helped very much at this point.
Well thats about it for me,I'm beat, need a rest. I will post more as soon as I can, promise. Say a prayer for our little man, that his nose bleeds get better and/or we find out a cause for it,and that it is not med related.
Nite guys!

Things are good here, Brady has had a great day today. So far so good on his med reduction. I really cant tell any difference yet,but he still has a ways to go. However,he has eaten really well today. I took him to the store with me this afternoon and he went wild for the chips in my buggy, he loves chips. So rather than letting him crunch up the big bag of chips,I got him a small bag to carry around. He was so determined to open his chips, before I paid for them. He was walking all over the store trying to hand them to everyone to open,it was to funny. I had to laugh,as most parents would be so upset over their child pitching a tantrum for a bag of chips, but it was so exciting to see Brady act like a typical 6yr old! Anyway there was a lady in the checkout line that kept telling him she would open them, but that I might get on to her, lol. I said to him, shes not going to open those chips for you,she snickered and said oh but I would love to baby, lol. Anyway the cashier took them from him to scan them and he thought she was going to open them, when she didn't he shot her the worst kind of look, lol. But after she scanned them I put him in the buggy and let him each chips while I checked out,he was very happy. He ate them the entire trip home, he would even let go of them for me to snap him in his car seat,he had a death grip, lol.
Anyway he and his brother played on the trampoline with the sprinkler while me and dad worked in the yard,it was nice to have him entertained so we could get something done around the house.
Tonight, Brady done the coolest thing!! I was sitting at my desk and asked him to bring my drink, well, he did it!! He even dropped it and it rolled away,he went over, picked it back up and brought it to me,how cool is that!!!!!!! His comprehension continues to improve on a daily basis, its the best feeling in the world, just watching him growing and developing!! :)
Well thats about it for now, I will post more later.

Well we finally made it back from Brady's neuro visit today,it went so well!! The doctor was so impressed and surprised at how well the VNS is working for Brady. He was very optimistic that we would be able to take Brady down from three seizure meds,to only one. He said that he was amazed at how well the VNS is working, at such a low setting, since Brady's seizures have been so hard to control and so severe, even with all the meds he's on. Anyway we will started reducing the topamax tonight, but its going to be a very gradual thing, just to be sure that the withdrawal doesn't cause seizures. Its going to take a full 3 months to get him totally off the topamax. If all goes well we will start reducing the keppra after that, and he will be left only on depakote. So it really was a great visit!
As for the hour and a half drive down, not so great!! It wasn't long before Mr. Brady figured out how to unbuckle and/or slide the top buckle on his car seat down, and get out. We spent the entire trip there and back fighting with him. He totally destroyed the backseat in the van, stuff threw everywhere, since he could reach everything. He emptied out and entire box of wet wipes in the floor, all the diapers, and the diaper bag. As if that wasn't bad enough,Houdini decided to sail a full can of pediasure over the back of my seat, hitting me in the head. Well that was so much fun,he decided that he would just start throwing everything up front with me and his dad,we must have looked really funny on the interstate ducking as we were passing cars, lol. Oh well,we survived and now we get to find a creative way to keep him in the seat. At least there is never a dull moment here, lol.

Well Dr. Brady felt the need to doctor something else today,so he doctored my big screen tv with a cup of water :0 Yep its now tore up,so I'm watching a little tv,20 ft away from the couch! I can see what there doing, but cant make out their faces, and reading words on the screen is out of the question! Needless to say his dad was less than proud of his doctoring skills, lol.
Brady's potty chair came in today,so when he took his diaper off tonight,I let him try it out. I left him sitting there while I grabbed a drink from the kitchen. I told Peyton to go in and check on him and Peyton came back saying, uhhhh mom,you might want to come see this. You would think with him being strapped to the toilet,he couldn't get into anything, but of course he figured out a way. He got the garbage can and dumped it all in the toilet and in the floor! I swear we could put him in a padded room and he would still manage to get into something. Oh well,I guess it was my fault for not sitting on the floor beside him,he taught me yet, another life lesson, lol.
Anyways the puppies are doing good,Brady likes to go in and check on them ever so often,he thinks their so darn funny when they cry, lol. He was really sweet today though,he actually petted one of them, without pulling hair, ears or tail!
Well thats it for now, will post more later.

Well,Dr. Brady delivered his first set of pups today, lol. I was sitting here reading when I noticed Brady in the box with out expectant Saint Bernard,Bailey. Anyways I got up and went to get him out of the box,not even noticing that there was a new pup,but of course Brady had already discovered it. I bent down to pet Bailey and noticed the pup between her paws! Long story short,I put Brady in the high chair for a bit,to keep him away from her, we now have 9 new pups, they are so cute! Brady just thinks they are so funny,he laughs everytime he looks at them. I had to move them to the other room though, for their safety. I was a little worried about what Dr. Brady would do to the poor little things. Anyways just thought I would post a quick update. I do have a picture of one of the pups,so check it out.

Well its been a long night here. Our Saint Bernard,Bailey is due to have pups any day,so I hung out here with her and Brady all night. Between her and Brady,I got no sleep at all. Brady is getting so tall,he stretched out along the entire couch and kicked me everytime I tried to lay down. Bailey of course was pacing all night :(
Anyways I haven't been to sleep yet,so just trying to keep myself busy, since Brady is going strong this morning. Brady has been up to a lot here lately. Last night my husband was asking what Brady wanted for supper, mashed potatoes or canned spaghetti. I told him that we would let Brady choose what he wanted. So I held up a can of spaghetti and a pack of potatoes, well he immediately chose the potatoes,he knew exactly which one he wanted, even though both of these things are his favs. It was so cool, seeing him make his own choice as to what to have for supper. Anyway he ate nearly the entire package of potatoes, all by himself. Another cool thing he done, was last night as well. I gave him a cup with dry cereal, Lucky Charms. Anyway he sat down in the floor and poured it all out, picking through, eating only the marsh mellows. When he had eaten all those, he brought me his cup, that they were in,and started jumping up and down for more marsh mellows, lol. It was just so funny to see him pick out only the marsh mellows and leave the rest, typical little boy, lol.
Anyways we did have a bit of a scare this morning. I went to the bathroom, was only gone a minute, well I heard something so ran back in the room where Brady was, only to find the door open and Brady gone. He had opened the door, gone outside, got some dirt, brought it back in,and went back out for a second load, lol. He was only at the edge of the carport, thank goodness. I'm guessing that his big brother didn't shut the door good when he went out last. Oh well at least Brady got to make sand pies in the therapy room.
Well,I'm beat, and not sure that what I'm typing is even making any since, lol. So IMO signing out for now. Will post an update soon.

Well its been another busy week. We had three little girls staying with us last week. Brady had a blast chasing them around, they are all so good with him. He woke me up one morning yelling at the top of his lungs,so I ran out to get him before he woke all 4 kids up,but it was to late. He was on his knees in the middle of their bed, jumping up and down, yelling "girl, girl, girl",lol. He pulled his first all niter, this past week, since his surgery. Luckily he and I were already up,when two of the girls decided at midnight they wanted to go home, uhhhhhhh. I took them home and then when I got back the third girl decided that she was ready to go home as well. So me and Brady loaded her up and took her home. But Brady didn't end up going to bed til 9am the following morning. Thank goodness he has been sleeping well since then,so hopefully it was just a bad night and not the start of a bad habit. Anyway the girls decided that day about lunch that they were ready to come back,so they spent another night with us.
Big bubba started running a fever that day,and ended up in the middle of the night not being able to breath,he has croup again. He has run a fever all weekend,I'm praying that Brady doesn't decide to join him.
Not much else going on here. Were going to start potty training as soon as Brady's potty chair comes in, I do hope it goes well,it would be such a relief to have him trained.
Well that's about it here,I will post more as it comes. Night guys.

Ok, this is the 4th time I have tried to update tonight, but it keeps getting erased. So I'm gonna make this short and sweet! Brady is doing well, chasing the dog, carrying the kitty around by his head, and even got tired of stuffing paper in a container this afternoon,so he decided it be even more fun to stuff the kitty in. The kitty wasn't to happy, but he let Brady do it,lol. Also Brady has discovered that its cool to smell of everything. He sniffs everything from dirty socks,to food, lol. I caught him sniffing my feet one night, and no they didn't stink, lol. It just cracks me up to see him smelling of everything, its like a whole new world has been opened up for him. Everything else is good,no seizures since the VNS. The incisions are looking a lot better and his foot isn't bothering him anymore.
Anyways many of you have had questions about Brady's VNS incisions,so I thought I would post some pictures. If you look closely you can see the outline of the round battery on his chest.
Gotta get going,Brady is having a wild night tonight, and a late one at that!

Just wanted to let you guys know that we didn't go to the doc this morning. Brady is now back to his busy little self, walking all over the place, getting into any and everything. At the moment he has a can of pediasure and his cup and is yelling like mad,so I better go fix his cup before he has a conniption fit. I will post more when I have more time.

Things are good here. I took Brady to the Ped today. He thinks that Brady's foot is probably just sprained, since he isn't showing constant pain. We have an appt with an orthopedic doc tomorrow. I'm not sure that we are going to take him in,he has been walking all over the place tonight, showing few signs of his foot hurting. We will see how he's doing when we get up in the morning. I will keep you guys posted on how it goes.

Well,Brady continues to have trouble with his foot. He has walked a little bit,but not more than a couple steps at the time. He is obviously favoring one foot. Were going to the doc in the morning to have it checked out again. It is possible that they are going to do a cast, since he is still having problems with it,we will know more tomorrow. The doc just said to give him til tomorrow and see if he is still not wanting to bare weight on it,then he may recommend casting.
As for his stitches, they look a lot better, the redness is gone. at least were getting to handle one problem at a time,so thats the bright side I guess, lol. Anyways,Im beat,so I will post more tomorrow, stay tuned for another episode of Days of Our Lives, lol.

Well, its been another busy night here at our house. I had to go to the funeral home,my uncle passed away. So the boys stayed with my hubby here at home,I knew they wouldn't be happy going with me. So Craig took the kiddos to his moms to eat supper. Well Brady loves to flip the dining room chairs over, hes gets a charge out of for some reason. No matter how many times we tell him,no,stop,he just keeps on. Tonight he flipped one over on his foot. My hubby said that Brady cried real tears,he knew that Brady was hurt. So I hurried home to take Brady to the ER. They done xrays and said they didn't see a break, but of course it takes days for a fracture to show up most times. Brady wasn't crying when we got there,he was laughing and totally won over the nurses, lol. Were back home now,and hes still not wanting to bare and weight on that foot. He will start to walk, then sit down and grab his foot, then butt scoots the rest of the way. Hes really cranky,so I know it must be hurting him. The doc just said it was bruised and called it a sprain,we shall see. If he isn't better by Monday we will go see the ortho doc. If things don't change,I feel like there will be more than just bruising going on. So for now,we just wait I guess. I will keep you all posted on how things go.

Brady is still doing well. His incision is looking a lot better today, the redness is nearly gone. It has been trying to drain a bit,but I don't think its anything major. He has had a good day today, busy as usual. He had a poop party tonight,so he just got out of the time out chair. Time outs didn't work before,so we hadn't tried it in a while. But since hes been out of the chair tonight, every time he starts to do something bad,I ask him if he wants to go back to the time out chair, and his eyes immediately cut toward the chair and stops whatever it is hes doing,I'm very impressed. We have our Rifton potty chair ordered,so were looking very forward to getting this potty thing up and going,he is totally ready. I have been seeing so many improvements in him, just today. He brought me two books to read to him earlier,he has never been interested in books before, well other than eating them, lol. He just giggled as I read the books to him,he was so into it,it was so cute!
He is also learning to do things I tell him to do. He loves to throw my remotes in the floor and bust them apart if he can. So tonight he did it,and I asked him if he wanted to go to the timeout chair,he shook his head no. I told him to go and get that remote and bring it back to me,he did it!!!!!!!!!!!! I always knew that we were underestimating his sneakiness, but now I know we really have underestimated what he understands.
Peyton got a new kitten from his Maw Maw,and Brady has been showing lots of interest in the poor thing. He will pick the kitten up by his tail, and walk all the way across the room with the poor kitty dangling in the air,I have to admit,it is pretty funny, lol. This kitten tolerates Brady so well.
Well that's it for now. I will post more news as it comes. Don't forget to keep Brady in your prayers,he starts coming off one of his meds June 20th. Anyways will post more later.

Turned out to be a busy day here today. We had 3 girls spending the night last night. I noticed after Brady went to sleep and got still, that his VNS incision had what looked like a pimple/blister on the end of the incision. Infection in these incisions are a huge deal. If the infection gets into the leads on the device,it will have to be removed,it could be life threatening. The wires are wrapped around the vagus nerve, which controls many functions within the body. If the wires have to be removed, there is a chance that it can cause severe nerve damage. So anyway we ended up driving an hour and a half to see the surgeon today. She said that it appears to be an internal stitch getting infected. She tried to see it,but it was to deep to do anything with today. We just have to wait it out and see if it dissolves or works its way out. She said it would flare up on and off for several more months,we just have to keep it washed in iodine and keep a band aid over it. We have to avoid lakes, public pools,or anywhere else that he might pick up bacteria. If it gets worse, then we will have to take him back and let them cut open the incision and see if they can get the stitch out. Hopefully it wont come to that and that things will heal up on their own. I don't even want to think about having to have this device removed,or what life would be like afterward. It is controlling Brady's seizures and is making life so much better for him and our entire family. We are finally feeling some kind of normalcy, the first in a very long time.
Anyways I will keep you guys posted. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Not much to post here tonight. Brady is doing good, but not wanting to go to sleep. He has had a small temp tonight,so I'm sure hes getting sick. Hes had a good weekend though. He has been walking all over the pool with no floats on,he thought he was big stuff, lol.
We had something funny happen in the grocery store Friday. We were in the checkout line when one of the cashiers just happens to pull out a shoe and said to the other lady that someone had lost this shoe in there last week, but never came back to claim it. I spoke up and said oh,that's our shoe, lol. The woman was shocked, she asked if we still had the other one at home,I told her yeah we did,we were hoping the mate would turn up,but weren't really expecting it to. Brady had managed to loose 2 pair of shoes in two weeks,at least we got one pair back. He is so bad about kicking off a shoe in the store,or even throwing it out the car door in the parking lot. I cant even begin to count the pairs of shoes this kid has been through in the last year, lol. Last Sunday we ended up going to church with no shoes, because he had lost them all! I know the people at church thought, oh those poor people cant even afford to buy shoes for their child, lol lol. I just didn't realise til Sunday morning that he had lost them all, lol. We had one pair left and they were locked up at Maw Maw's house. Oh well,Brady was more than happy to go to church with no shoes, lol. I went shoe shopping,so with those and the pair that we managed to retrieve from the grocery store, were back up to 4 pair, that should last us about 4 weeks, lol.
Anyways I think hes winding down,I hope,so I'm gonna get ready for bed. Hope to have more to post tomorrow.
