Good news!
I first off wanted to let everyone know that Brady is home and doing very well. He is drinking and eating again and seems to feel really well. The doc said that he had 25% to 50% open airway in his throat, the rest was occluded. I really think that he is going to feel so much better now that he can actually breath.
I also wanted to let everyone know that we got a call from the lady at medicaid yesterday and after a long battle,Brady has been qualified, not only for the waiver program, but for full medicaid!! We have been fighting so long,I just cant believe that it is finally happening. So for those of you have given up hope, keep fighting there are ways to get your child qualified. We had to have Brady institutionally deemed in order to qualify him for services. For those of you who do not know what this mean, this process involves getting a person approved for Medicaid because of their need for the E/D program. To obtain Medicaid, the client’s spouse or parent’s income is deemed ineligible as part of the client’s finances.
Anyway I just wanted to update everyone on whats been happening lately.

Update on communication.
Well Brady has mastered the talking picture frame!! He now will crawl over, push the cup button, then bring me his cup. Then while Im getting his cup he will sit an press the cup button making it say over and over "I want my cup". The little stinker is rushing me,lol. Not only has he learned to do that, but he has now learned to press the button for food!! He goes over and presses the food side of the frame, which says "Im hungry". He absolutely loves communicating! He gets so excited when he sees that his words actually made me get up and do something for him, lol. I think he just enjoys seeing me jump when he wants me to,lol. I cant wait to get him some more frames, hes doing awsome!! It is just so amazing to watch Bradys communication skills just blossoming. I can just look at him and tell that he so understands what is going on around him,he just needs a way to express himself. There is a very bright little boy inside that little body,we just have to keep finding ways to bring him out.I am just so excited! He has also began to be able to bring things to me when I ask,it just shows that he really really gets it now.Anyway just had to update.Be back soon.

Brady's accomplishments!
Just had to tell everyone how well Brady is doing these days. The first thing that I think is so cool is that he is the best seeker you will ever find,in hiding seek that is,lol.Every night Peyton and Brady take a bath together,Peyton will not take a bath without Brady, they love it! Anyway Peyton runs down the hallway saying "Im heading to the bathroom Brady." Brady crawls as fast as his little legs will carry him, while Peyton runs ahead and hides in the bathroom before bathtime. Brady goes in and looks behind the door, behind the shower curtain, etc. So Peyton decided to hide in the closet, well Brady would not be fooled,he went over, pulled up on the handles, and opened the closet door, all by himself!!! Of course he thought that finding Peyton in there was the funniest thing he had ever done, lol.
The next cool thing that he done just tonight, was to use his talking picture frame to get his cup!! He crawled over the picture frame, fussed, pressed the button and it said want my cup. So I jumped up and ran to the kitchen to fix his cup, meanwhile the little turkey was rushing me by pushing the button over and over. When he did get his cup he was so excited that he had been able to order me around and I actually minded him, lol.
But before that he did something else that I was very proud of! He has a reverse walker, but over time his needs have changed and he tends to lean more forward,so he needs a foward walker, instead of reverse. So tonight his dad removed the things on the wheels that were keeping from going forward. I put Bradys helmet on,and he took off!!! He was like a race car driver zooming all over the living room. He zoomed over to have a feel of the big tv,then zoomed over to visit dad on the couch, then zoomed around the rest of the room. He was walking,or running should I say,and loving every step! Now if we could just teach him to steer a little better. He drives like a typical male,(naah really he gets that from me I think)lol lol. I think his motto is,if it gets in the way just run over it.
Anyway be back soon!

About Brady

Read Brady's Story Here

I am 11yrs old and I have Angelman Syndrome. I may have this syndrome, but I dont let it hold me back. I love life and live it to the fullest every single day. My mom says that our research organization, Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics, is working really hard on a treatment or even a cure for me and my friends. I am thankful to have 25 words but I look forward to the day that I can carry on long conversations and talk so much that everybody has to ask me to please be quiet for a few minutes :) Anyway, mom says Im awesome and super funny and I have to agree, lol.
