Well we finally got a date for the consultation for the VNS surgery. We are going in Jan 8th for the consultation and should get a surgery date then. I know it sounds crazy,but were very excited to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope and pray that this will get Brady off of some of his meds,or at least get the doses dropped. He is really thriving lately,but I know that these meds are holding him back,from reaching his full potential,and thats just so unfair to him. I want him to be able to get the most out of life,he deserves it. So hopefully this will be his big break.
He is still doing well,not sleeping so well though. We got to bed at 4:30 am this morning,in which I started coughing and had to get back up. Night before we got in bed about 4:15am. His sleeping seems to be taking a back seat to everything else these days. I really think that he is having some seizure activity when he does sleep,and its making him not want to sleep. when he is sleeping,I'm just watching and waiting for the big one. He will jerk for about 5 seconds,then suddenly stop. Then in 15 minutes or so,he will start again. He does this the entire time hes sleeping. So I know that hes not getting any rest.
I swear,this is one tough little kid. The things he goes through,and he still manages to smile and be happy most of the time. He also still continues to make tons of progress with his skills. I couldn't be more proud of my little guy,both of them for that matter. Big brother Peyton is so awesome. He really keeps a close eye on his little brother. He tells me all the time to let Brady go in the other room with him to play,and says he will watch him and make sure he doesn't have a sejure,as he calls them,lol. Peyton is so wise beyond his years,he is an amazing little boy.
Anyway that's my brag for the night,lol. I will post more later. |

Well its been a good day here. Brady has been a real sweetheart today. He has been hugging and kissing on me all day,its been so sweet. He is still progressing in leaps and bounds,his comprehension is amazing these days. He is really learning to shake his head to yes and no questions. He is still using his word cards,although hes a bit rough with them,good thing I have a printer to make new ones,lol. We took maw maw an early Christmas present tonight and when we got ready to leave,she said thank you Brady for my Christmas present,and he looked straight over at the table where it was laying,he knew exactly what she was saying to him!!! He has also been showing a real understanding about a wet or poopy diaper as well. He will take them off just before or after hes wet them,or pull it to the side to pee. He does not like to wear them wet at all. Tonight he went and got me the wet wipes and a diaper and sat down in the floor and said mama. As to say "hey,come change me",lol. I just looked at him and said what. So he got up and came over and started spanking me with the diaper,fussing. But he knew exactly what he wanted,and he made his point,so its cool to see him doing that. He also loves to play hide in seek with his bubba. They take a bath together every night,and the routine is,bubba has to hide and Brady has to find him,before they get in the tub. But Brady is to good,he finds bubba every time. Peyton asked me tonight how did Brady know how to find him every time,lol. Brady opened up the closet door and found peyton tonight,its to funny,lol. Thats another thing,we say to Brady,you have to get a bath. And he will go over and start tugging on his brothers shirt,like ok,you heard them,lets go. He does love to take baths with his Bubba. But again,he knows what we say to him when we say bath time. And he knows that big Bubba has to go to. They go to the bathroom,and Brady doesn't get in the tub until Bubba says ok get in,its so cute,lol.
Anyway were so proud of our little man,both of them.
Brady goes for his endoscopy on Friday,so keep him in your prayers. Im not sure how their going to sedate him,since chloral hydrate and benedryl doesnt work. Hopefully it will all be fine though. I will let everyone know as soon as were home and settled.

Brady has had a good day today. He hasnt been manic all day,and has even been using his words some. We had to go to the hospital and have his blood drawn,for the tests the GI doc requested. The young man that stuck him first couldnt get the vein,as Brady was moving all over the place as usual. So he had to get a woman to come and draw the blood while he helped me hold Brady. But we did get it,and Brady didnt even cry. So after that I took Brady to have his hair cut,and he was moving a lot,but done really well.
Anyways thats about it for now. Will post more later. |

Well it started off as a rocky morning,but it did get some better throughout the day. I printed out some simple words such as,maw maw,mom,dad,eat,cup,etc. I put them in magnectic picture cards and added velcro to make them stick better,and stuck them on the inside of the door so brady could reach them. Anyway I spent all day pointing to the words,saying them to Brady,and getting him to touch them. I kept repeating him what each word was,and showing him some of the objects listed. So anyway he started trying to open the door,and I said Brady where are you going. He reached down and grabbed the word maw maw and handed it to me,lol lol. I said oh are you going to maw maws house,then he reached over and grabbed the word yes!!!!!! I was cracking up,jumping up and down,saying way to go Brady. And of course he just thought it was the coolest thing ever.
Its so funny because we have tried pictures before,just never gave him enough credit to learn to recognize simple words,but he is doing just that!! I cant wait til he learns the rest of the words now,I know the little bugger can do it. Im so very proud of him. He seems to be learning something new everyday,and so do I,lol. |

Well,its been a heck of a Monday morning already!! Brady woke up early,in a foul mood. Peyton left to go up to Maw maws house,so Brady and I laid back down for a nap on the couch. Brady was laying beside me about to go to sleep,so I dosed off. I started having a nightmare that Craig died and I was crying,wondering how I would be able to manage Brady by myself. In my dream it really didn't hit me that Craig was gone,until I was waiting for him to come home from work,and he never came. I seen his shorts in the dirty clothes and could smell his cologne and then it hit me all of the sudden that he wasn't coming home,I was panicked. So I woke myself up literally crying. But when I woke up,the door was open and Brady was no where to be found!!! I took off running as fast as I could to the pool. I just knew that I would find him floating,it was the worst feeling I have ever felt in my life!!! I didn't find him there and started walking off,but had to turn around and make one more sweep around the pool just to make me feel better,but he wasn't there,thank God!!!!! So I ran around the house several more times,screaming Brady's name,freaking out.Of course Brady never answered me,so I had no idea where he was. Its cool here,and I knew he was in nothing but a diaper. I kept thinking OMG,hes gone in the woods,what if we can't find him before night comes and it starts really getting cold. There must have been a million thoughts going through my head! He was missing that I was aware,for at least 5minutes or more. I have no idea how long he had been outside. Anyways I finally found him up the driveway sitting in the dirt playing happily. I think that he must have been on his way up to Maw maws house and got sidetracked. He looked at my panicked face,like whats your problem mom. I yanked him up and carried him back in the house,him kicking and screaming and me in tears. He was so ticked off that he had to come back in the house. I swear there went another 10yrs off my life. I know now why my dark hair is getting greys,lol.
So now we have to figure out how to keep him from getting that door open and going outside. As I said he was laying right beside me going to sleep before all this. I don't know how I didn't hear him,I'm usually a light sleeper. I could have never forgiven myself if something had happened to him. I just got done installing a latch at the top of the door,so hopefully that will keep the little turkey in from now on. |

Brady is doing better today. He has been awake and alert most of the day today. He is actually entertaining himself tonight,so thats unusual. He is all smiles tonight,and in the sweetest mood. He is also walking all over the place. He did the cutest thing at supper tonight!!! I was clearing the table after supper and was putting stuff in the refrigerator,when Brady came walking up and stood beside me,handing me the bag of chips that were off the table. I first thought he meant he wanted some,but took them from him,said thank you so much for helping,and put them away. He just grinned from ear to ear,he new exactly what he was doing!!! Im so proud of the little turkey,hes growing up so fast!!
Well hes got the entire box of wet wipes pulled out all over the floor,so I have to go clean those up. I will post more later. |

Well its been another interesting day here today. Brady woke up in a good mood this morning,so I got him dressed and we went to town to do some Christmas shopping and grocery shopping. He walked into the store and pushed the cart around,and of course had to speak to everyone,but got tired,so I put him in the cart. Shortly after he started closing his eyes and slumping over forward,then dosing off. He would be looking at me,and 5 seconds later,be slumped over asleep. So we left the store,and he continued in the car. He went to sleep,which is so not like him,hes never went to sleep in the car before,even on 8hr trips,he just doesnt do that. So we didnt go to the grocery store,and I called Craig and work to tell him Brady was acting strange,and was asleep in the car. So anyway we came home and he barely woke up to come inside. He lay on the couch and was out. I called the doc and explained what he was doing,and that he had been having some tremors lately,which isnt like him either. They wanted me to get bloodwork stat. They tested depakote levels,ammonia levels,hepatic panel and cbc. I had to take him out of town to get the blood,because the hospital here would take 2 days to get the results and the doc didnt want us to wait that long. We got home at about 4pm and they hadnt called yet,so I called them back. They finally managed to get the results back and all was normal except the depakote levels,they were on the high side,to high for Brady to tolerate. His levels have really increased since a couple of weeks ago. Sooooo we are dropping his dose down 125mg. Hopefully thats going to do the trick. He started this about 10:30 this morning,has slept most of the day,and is back asleep now. For anyone who knows Brady,knows that he doesnt sleep at night,much less during the day. Im very worried about him,hes not acting like himself at all. He has been very lethargic all day. He did manage to get up tonight and walk around a bit,but as I said,hes out again now.
It was the strangest thing I have ever seen,it was almost like he had narchalepsy. Anyway,I will post more tomorrow,hope to have better news by then. |

Well,Bradys been a busy boy lately..... He started off yesterday,by throwing one of maw maws,deceased husbands,soup cups onto the tile floor,breaking it into a thousand peices. He thought it was one of the funniest things he had ever done,needless to say, Maw maw wasnt pleased at all. Of course shes his baby so she got over it pretty quickly. So anyway we were at her house again today for dinner. I stepped outside to help Craig for a minute,leaving Brady in the high chair,in the kitchen,with Maw maw. So when I came back in after only about 5 minutes or so,Brady had snatched the table cloth off the table,breaking the sugar jar,the big jar of pepper sauce,and nearly breaking the salt and pepper shakers. It was all in the floor and Brady was just sitting there giggling,uhhhhhh!!! So anyways,we get the mess cleaned up and the rest of the family comes in. I finished up eating and left the table,but was standing in the kitchen,when I noticed a stinky diaper on the floor. But I had just changed a stinky diaper on Brady,and had taken it outside,so where did this stinky diaper come from???? So I picked it up and took it outside to the trash. A little bit later,we went to take Brady out of the high chair and he was naked from the waste down,yep you guessed it,the mystery of the stinky diaper was soloved. He had managed to pull yet another Houdini stunt,wiggle his way out of the stinky diaper and throw it on the floor. So he had poop in his high chair,next to the kitchen table where everyone was eating,good job Brady. So anyways after we got him cleaned up,we came home and got ready to go to a birthday party. This was his first party since he started walking,so I was anxious for him to show off his new walking. It was so cool watching peoples faces,ones that hadnt seen him since he started walking,or didnt know he was. Everyone was so excited,and just couldnt stop watching him walking,and of course he was putting on a show for them,lol. But his biggest interest,even before the party started,was in the food table,not good. He was trying so hard to get to the unopened chips on the table,but I wouldnt let him. So along came another Maw maw,not his,lol. Anyways she opened the chips and gave him some,he was really happy until he was done. So I think he had eaten nearly half the bag of chips before the party started,he just couldnt get enough. After he made his mess with chips,we cleaned it up and then the party started. He knew it was time to eat,and even got in line at the table. I put him on the other side of me,so he couldnt reach the table,fearing what he might do to the cake,lol. Just so happened his brother walked by and little flash Brady slapped Peytons plate out of his hand,and cake went flying everywhere. Brady was trying to get to his brothers cake and made another big mess. Of course he has everyone,but me,wrapped around his finger,so they were all laughing,telling me to feed that child. And telling me not to get onto that baby,he was fine,yeaaa right! Oh did I mention,that dad was sitting outside with gout in his foot and unable to walk?! So I was guarding Brady,holding his hand,and fixing two plates of food,one for Brady and one for dad. But I did manage to get it done. All I had to do with Brady was hold the plate of cake in front of him and keep walking backward,he followed that entire plate of cake out the door,lol. So shortly after dad was in so much pain,we had to leave the party. Brady is home and doing well now,no major incidents as of yet,knock on wood!!
He really is doing well lately though. His walking is just getting better and better. He is progressing in leaps and bounds. One of the biggest things I have noticed with him lately,is that he is now able to make choices. He picks out what food he wants on his plate at supper,he also picks out what he wants to drink as well. Before this,he was only able to let me know that he was hungry or thirsty,but not able to let me know exactly which food or drink he wanted.
Another thing I notice with him,is that he is able to follow many commands now. I can tell him to get things and bring them to me and he will do this,and more.
Last night he had a stinky diaper,as usual. So I was trying to find the wet wipes,and was walking around the room saying Brady where did dad put the wet wipes. So I went to wake my husband up and ask where they were and when I came back into the room with Brady,he had gotten the wet wipes and was sitting in the middle of the floor holding them,looking at me,like ok change me now,lol lol. It totally cracked me up. Hes such a monkey.
Well I have rambled on enough. Just thought I should get a better update that the last couple. I will keep ya posted on how things are moving along here. |

Just wanted to let everyone know that we went to the GI doc today. Brady was super sweet all day,and such a good little traveler. He walked in and out of the hospital. He even went over to the elevator and pushed the down button when we got ready to leave,we were so proud of him.
Anyway the GI doc is going to do and endoscopy Nov.30th and see if he can figure out why hes having so many bowel movements and check for the ulcer and reflux.Hopefully it wont be anything serious and can be corrected with meds. They did say that if they dont find anything,they will most likely relate his symptoms to Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Anyways thats all we know for now. I will keep everyone posted as we learn more. |

Well things are going good here. We see the GI doc on Thursday,looking forward to that. We had an eventful evening here,lol. We had to go birthday shopping for our oldest son,so we left him with maw maw. Me,Craig and Brady went to eat before we went shopping. Brady of course decided to potty in his pants about the time we started eating. So we hurried to get done and get him out to the truck,then realised we had no wet wipes,uhhhh!! So we found a diaper and said well we will use napkins to clean him up,but when we took his pants off,it went everywhere,iccckkk!! It was all over the seat and him. His clothes were a mess,and of course we had no change of clothes with us. So we shot over the the little store next to the restraunt to find him a cheap suit of clothes and wet wipes. All they had was shorts and a short sleeve,and its not that kind of weather here! So anyways we did get that and took it out to get him cleaned up,but decided it best to do it on the tail gate of the truck,rather than messing up the seat even further. I know people must have thought we were completly nuts as they drove by. I laughed so hard,and said they want to know what were doing to this poor kid,lol. But anyways,we did get him somewhat cleaned up,enough to finish out shopping trip anyway. Uhhh,the things we have to do,lol.

Just wanted to catch up from Halloween. Brady had a blast trick or treating. He went as a spider and was so darn cute. So cute that most of the people handing out candy ended up giving him two handfuls,lol. Anyways he carried his trick or treat bucket for a while,of course he had to dip in and sample the candy several times,lol. He was so funny,he would look at the people and look at his bucket,like why are you putting candy in bucket,whooo hooo,lol. He walked some of the time,and rode in his stroller the other times. He of course had to socialize with everyone,no matter how ugly or cute they looked in costumes. He ened up pretty tired by the end of the night though,and refused to walk at all. But all in all,he done really well.
Hes doing good now,just went to sleep,so Im heading there myself,very shortly. He had a big day at my grandmothers house. He walked all over the yard,crawled very little. He even learned to climb up the steps,and didnt even have to crawl. He has been eating really well today,so thats a good thing. He was climbing all over me tonight so I put him in the high chair for a bit. He sat and watched a movie,and laughed at the funny parts. He has never sat and watched a movie like that,and not to mention he laughed at the funny parts. He also started dancing in the highchair when the movie started playing music. Hes getting to be such a big boy these days. Oh and I forgot to mention,he finally gained a pound,hes up to 33lbs now,whoo hooo!!
Well thats about it for now,Im tired and heading outta here. Will post more later. |
